Positive training
Every cue below follows positive reinforcement, the method recommended by most modern behaviorists. Short, daily sessions produce better results than long, sporadic ones.
- 1Hold a treat close to your dog's nose.
- 2Slowly move the treat up and back over their head.
- 3The natural body motion will lower their hips.
- 4The moment they sit, say 'sit' and offer the treat.
- 5Repeat 5–10 times per session with positive reinforcement.
